A great day out about 1 hour car drive from Oxford. What a good year to visit Stratford-upon-Avon, 400 years on from ‘The Bard’s’ death. Also possible to visit by train or bus; takes about 90 minutes (each way).
So much to do:
Shakespeare’s Birthplace.
Holy Trinity Church where Shakespeare is buried.
Anne Hathaway’s Cottage.
Royal Shakespeare Company.
Boat trips on the River Avon.
Museum of Witchcraft & Wizardology.
And shopping if you need a rest from all that history!
There is also an interesting exhibition, fittingly called Shakespeare’s Dead, at Oxford’s Bodleian (Weston) Library – recently renovated & named Architects’ Journal’s 2016 Building of the year.
